A new walkway along the Benabolá river, Nueva Andalucía

In summer 2023, the Marbella City Council started work to create 1.4 km riverside walkway along the Benabolá stream between Avenida del Prado in Nueva Andalucía and Puerto Banus. Investing over 5.5 million euros in the project and encompassing a vast area of 45.000m2.  A river path will be built to the east of the stream and a bridge. It will include installations of benches and lighting thus converting the area into a place of recreation and enjoyment for the neighbourhood. This large scale project will not only be a benefit to the local residents, as it will also include a redesign of the pedestrian underpass of the coastal road where the fluvial connects to.

Marbella town hall is awaiting for the authorisation to increase the road height, removing one of the pavements and widening the other to 1.5 metres, which will significantly improve mobility in the area. The riverwalk project  will be a fantastic asset to the area benefiting both locals and tourists alike and will be ready for the high season.
